On the horizon
The big event coming up very soon is my Open Studio which is part of the Dadanup Art Spectacular and Trail. The Art Spectacular and Trail is a premier event here in Ferguson Valley. I had the first one last year and I was amazed and excited about how well it went. Lots of people came and the atmosphere was light , friendly and encouraging. Sales were great, but what was more uplifting was the obvious joy visitors were getting from my art and being able to exprience the unique setting of my studio. It overlooks our natural swimming pool and it really is a beautiful place. There was time to chat and mingle and enjoy a cuppa. My daughter Shae from Shae’s Clay also had a great weekend and a real confidence boost for her as an emerging potter . Shae’s Clay will join me again this year and she is excited to be bringing lots of her new work.
My art is always rejuvinated by getting out into the landscape. Last week we came back from a short tour of the south west of Western Australia where we explored beautiful beaches , camped at stunning freshwater pools and were awed by the beauty of the mountainous peaks of the Stirling ranges. . I packed a big box of art gear and I managed to paint four small 30x30 paintings on board.
Some of you who follow me on instagram may know that I have been part of @the100dayproject for the first time this year. The concept is to do something creative every day for 100 days. I chose to draw something each day and although demanding and challenging to produce something each day, it is great fun and I’m learning from the experience. You can see my efforts on

I now have about a month to get into the studio to paint, frame, tidy, catalogue and….. panic….. just a little bit!
I hope that if you are in the area you can drop in to share a cuppa and see what I have been doing for the past year
