10 DAYS TO GO!
Hello all
My Open Studio is nearly here! There are so many little jobs to do quite apart from the actual painting. I won’t bore you with my To Do List but suffice to say its one of those lists that gets longer no matter how many items I cross off.
It is still so dry here and the paddock where the studio sits is brown compared to the green of last year. Everyone around this southwest part of the continent is desperate for rain for the plants, trees dams and water tanks. Luckily our natural pool has still got enough water for swimming and is crystal clear. We’re still having an occasional dip, but it is getting a bit nippy now.
I have lots of new work to show everyone this year and I’m interested to hear if people think it has changed in any way from last year’s work. There are plenty of smaller and affordable artworks available for that little nook in the house, and I have been beavering away producing original cards and small works on paper.
Shae from Shae’s clay is joining me again this year. She also has a new body of work to share with you and I think you will be impressed. We’re changing things around a little bit this time so hopefully our combined work will look even better.
Bizarrely I took on #the100daychallenge at the same time as getting ready for the studio opening. The challenge I set myself is to produce a drawing in my sketchbook every day for a hundred days. It is posted on Instagram daily and here is the link if you’d like to see my efforts @diananeggoartist. It has been quite a task to do something every day, but people have been very encouraging and I have grown in confidence as time goes by. It really is a good and creative thing to take on, but maybe not when I’ve got another big artistic project on the table.
There has been an exciting development just in the last couple of days. Avi from Fantastic Framing has offered me a partnership or collaboration. When people buy a painting, I can offer to have it framed for them in one of three colours. I’m still working through the details but I think it might be a good idea. Even though most of my larger works are on stretched canvas and can be hung as they are, the right frame makes a world of difference.
I’ll keep this short as THAT list isn’t going away. I really hope that if you are in my part of the world, you can drop in to say hi and see what I’ve been doing for the last twelve months. We are providing tea and coffee again this year so you can sit and sip overlooking the water view.
