Summer

Summer is a diptych. It is a mixed media abstract work created using acrylic paints and collage. Its many layers, marks and textures are produced using a pallet knife and various scrapers.

The changing of the seasons in the Ferguson Valley is marked not only by the change in temperature but also the change of colours that dress the hills and valleys. The lush green slopes of winter and spring are transformed into warm summer hues of cadmium yellow and ochre. The soft golds of the hay bales and the waving grasses sit beautifully under the washed blue of the sky.

Summer is that time in the valley.

Colours in the reproductions may vary from the original
