Monsoon

$300.00

Acrylic Paint on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

76cm (W) x 38cm (H) x 3cm (D

Sailors are tuned in to the weather and on constant watch for any change in conditions. Sailing in Thailand and SE Asia has its weather challenges with short, local and fierce monsoonal storms sweeping quickly in from the horizon. Heat and humidity are replaced by leaden skies and driving rain that washes across the ocean and land bringing instant relief. Being brought up in the hot and dry Mediterranean climate of the south west of Australia, the monsoonal rains were always a thing of wonder, joy and fear.
This painting was based on a sketchbook drawing done while living on the tiny island of Koh Yao Noi in Thailand. We watched as in this instance, gentle showers brushed across the neighbouring island and sea, barely disturbing the mirror finish of the water.
