What’s on the easel?
I spotted some beautiful drone images of Ferguson Valley taken by #theuncommoncreative. With their permission I’m attempting a series of aerial landscape paintings. As usual I have something in my mind as I start painting but the painting has its own ideas and I finish up with something quite different. They bear only a slight resemblance to the reference photos.
I should just learn to surrender to this process.
The first painting has been named Ascending from the beautiful violin piece called Lark Ascending and the second is called Before the Rain as the valley in these images was thirsty after a long hot summer.
I’m working on a third but we’ll see how that that goes and where it will take me! Stay tuned. These two are being entered into a couple of exhibitions soon.
